Description
The large Coccer Nabe perches daintily in the middle of the table, hovering above a flickering gas stove. A group has gathered around it, and together they discuss their week, the weather, holidays. Vegetables and the thinnest slices of meat are brought in and out of the donabe, and the group becomes more animated. The evening wears on like this, building in intensity, until the liquid has almost dissipated and celebrants are reminded of how full they are, and how merry, and one by one they step out to the cool autumn air.
The inimitable 4th-market are the craftsmen behind the large Coccer Nabe. Each member has decades of experience in crafting traditional banko yaki earthenware, a rustic, unpretentious style of pottery that prizes the authentic texture of its materials. They shape these materials into surprisingly light and delicate forms that belie their generosity.
The large Coccer Nabe is a Kyoto-style donabe. These shallow donabes serve excellently for large groups, cooking liquid quickly and allowing rapid changes of ingredients for large groups. It excels at hotpot parties, but if you’re cooking for family, it’s a quick after-work fix too. It has a 2200ml capacity and comfortably serves five people. It is safe to use in the oven, dishwasher, freezer, barbecue and microwave.
The Coccer Nabe is also available in small and medium. All sizes are available in black, white and mustard.
